Burned outlet regarding products recalled by Health Canada over electric shock hazard risks

Health Canada has announced recalls of several products over an electric shock hazard risk. The recalled products include Sterno Home Class II LED Drivers, the LUS Hair Dryer and Diffuser, and Leviton 50-ampere electrical connectors.

If you have any of these products, you should stop using them immediately. You may be entitled to a full refund or a replacement product.

Sterno Home Class II LED Drivers for LED Pathlight Kits

On May 1, Health Canada reported that Sterno Home Class II LED Drivers were recalled due to the risk of electric shock. The blades of the affected LED driver can reportedly become displaced and remain lodged in the AC outlet, posing a risk of electric shock.

The affected products include Sterno Home Class II LED Drivers with the following model numbers: E000-1696, E000-1697, E000-1909 and E000-1910. These products are included with the Hampton Bay, Patriot and Paradise pathlight kits.

The products were manufactured in China by Fire Fly Lit Co. Ltd. and distributed by Sterno Home Inc.

According to Health Canada, approximately 10,375 units of the affected products were sold in Canada from March 2017 to April 2020.

Sterno had not received any reports of injuries or incidents in Canada as of April 14, 2020.

Consumers who have this product should immediately disconnect the LED Driver from the AC outlet and return them to Sterno Home Inc. for a replacement product.

LUS Hair Dryer and Diffuser

On April 23, Health Canada announced that the LUS Hair Dryer and Diffuser were recalled because it poses a risk of electric shock. The LUS Hair Dryer and Diffuser reportedly does not have an immersion protection plug, which can pose the risk of electric shock if immersed in water in homes that do not have Ground Fault Circuit Interrupters.

This recall is part of a joint recall with Health Canada, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and LUS Distribution Inc.

The recall applies to the LUS Hair Dryer and Diffuser with model number HC-LUS01. This product is a white hand-held 125 V/60 Hz hair dryer. It has just two speed settings (low and high), and three temperature settings (cool, warm and hot).
