It applies to about 10,000 Flo Smart Water Monitor Lithium-Ion Battery Backups sold in the United States and about 14 sold in Canada.
According to the recall, the lithium-ion battery backup can overheat. There have been three reports of backup batteries that have overheated and caught fire so far, the Moen recall says.
There have been no reported injuries; however, consumers disclosed minor property damage.

Immediately unplug Flo Smart Water Monitor battery backup, Moen recall says
Moen sold the battery backups at Lowe’s, The Home Depot and other stores nationwide and online, including Amazon.com, from Aug. 2019 through Nov. 2022 for about $250.
Consumers should immediately unplug and stop using the recalled battery backup and contact Moen for instructions on how to disable it before disposing of the unit in accordance with applicable laws for the disposal of lithium-ion batteries, the Moen recall states.
The Flo Water Monitor Battery Backup device was an optional add-on accessory that could be purchased separately to extend certain features of Moen’s Flo Smart Water Monitor in the event of a power disruption, the company says. Only the battery backup is being recalled.
Meanwhile, a number of recent fires caused by exploding lithium-ion batteries have raised concerns, with the batteries found in a number of popular consumer products and transportation mobiles, such as electric transit buses and scooters.
