IKEA mirror recall overview:

  • Who: IKEA recalled more than 39,000 of its LETTAN mirrors.
  • Why: The mirrors can fall, posing a laceration hazard.
  • Where: The IKEA mirror recall is active in the United States and Canada.

IKEA recalled more than 39,000 of its LETTAN mirrors as the mirrors can fall, posing a laceration hazard.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission website published the recall March 16. It applies to about 22,400 IKEA LETTAN mirrors sold in the United States and about 17,500 sold in Canada.

According to the recall, the plastic fittings that attach the mirror to the wall can break, causing the mirror to fall and posing a laceration hazard to consumers.

So far, IKEA received 55 incident reports globally and one report of the plastic fittings coming loose and the mirror falling off the wall, it says.

The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes end in class action lawsuits.

IKEA to provide free replacement wall fittings, refund, mirror recall states

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled mirrors and contact IKEA to order a free set of replacement wall fittings and instructions, the company says.

Alternatively, customers can return the mirror to any IKEA store for a full refund. Proof of purchase is not required to receive a full refund.

IKEA sold the recalled mirrors at its stores nationwide and online at IKEA.com from December 2019 through October 2022 for between $23 and $56

The recalled mirrors have a date stamp before and including 2105 (YYWW). The date stamp is located on the back of the mirror.

Meanwhile, in February, IKEA recalled about 12,000 swivel chairs as the chairs’ leg base can break, posing fall and injury hazards.
