Bunny necklace recall overview: 

  • Who: Creative Education of Canada is recalling 4,300 of its Easter Bunny and Boutique Butterfly necklaces. 
  • Why: The bunny necklace recall is due to the necklace containing high amounts of cadmium, which is toxic if ingested.
  • Where: The recall is valid wherever the necklaces are sold, including the United States and Canada.

Creative Education of Canada is recalling 4,300 of its Easter Bunny and boutique necklaces because they contain cadmium.

The recall, posted by the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission, states that the necklaces can be toxic if ingested by children.

The recall applies to the Easter Bunny necklace with model number 86140 and Boutique Butterfly necklace with model number 90422 printed on the back of the package. The bunny necklace recall is for a pendant with a white bunny holding an Easter egg and a gold-colored chain. 

The butterfly necklaces have blue, pink or purple stones on the butterfly’s wings on a gold-colored chain. They were sold threaded through a white plastic backing. “Great Pretenders” is printed on the tag.

The pendants were sold nationwide at toy and gift shops and from January to March 2023 on the greatpretenders.ca website at $2 for the Easter Bunny necklace) and $4 for the Boutique Butterfly Jewel necklace.

Consumers are asked to stop using the product immediately and contact the company, according to the Easter Bunny necklace recall

Creative Education of Canada says it has not received any reports of illness related to the recall so far. The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.

The company is asking consumers to stop using the necklaces immediately and contact Creative Education of Canada for a full refund.
