Product recall written in blocks regarding Health Canada recalling a couple of children's products over hazard concerns

Health Canada has issued a recall notice for a couple of children’s products; the Manhattan Toy Musical Lili Llama Activity Toy and various two-piece children’s sleepwear sets by Sporting Life brand.

According to the notices, the products are being recalled because they present various hazards. Hazards that result in a recall can include choking, flammability, exposure to chemicals, or risk of injury

“Consumer product recalls are not assigned different levels of urgency. If a product is recalled, it is always considered a danger to human health or safety,” states the agency’s website. “This means it could cause injury, death or adverse health effects (temporary or chronic) as a result of its normal or possible use.”

Lili Llama Toy Recalled Over Choking Concerns

On April 2, 2020, Health Canada posted a recall notice for the Manhattan Toy Musical Lili Llama Activity Toy over concerns that the screws in the product can become loose, fall off, and present a choking hazard. The agency urges consumers to stop using the Lili Llama Toy immediately.

According to the children’s products recall notice, the Lili Llama Toy is a wooden activity toy with a Xylophone, spinning gears, and a maraca. The item’s lot code is 217120 IL and UPC code is 011964494460.

Health Canada reports that, as of March 30, 2020, the agency had been notified of five incidents where screws had fallen off and two where children had put them in their mouths. Happily, there have been no reports of injuries, according to the agency.

The Lili Llama Toy was sold between October 2019 through February 2020. Approximately 60 Lili Lama Toys were sold in Canada, with nearly 4,000 sold in the U.S., according to the children’s products recall notice.

The products were manufactured in China and distributed by The Manhattan Toy Company, LLC, based in Minneapolis.

The Sporting Life brand children’s sleepwear was manufactured in China and distributed by Toronto company, Sporting Life.

“Loose-fitting children’s sleepwear can contact ignition sources such as stove elements, candles, and matches,” warns Health Canada’s children’s products recall notice. “Once ignited, the sleepwear will burn rapidly, potentially resulting in severe burns to large areas of the child’s body.”

“Please note that the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act prohibits recalled products from being redistributed, sold or even given away in Canada,” states the recall notices from Health Canada. “Health Canada would like to remind Canadians to report any health or safety incidents related to the use of this product or any other consumer product or cosmetic by filling out the Consumer Product Incident Report Form.”
