The recall was initiated due to concerns over the presence of metal fragments within the tablets, which could pose a significant health risk if ingested.

According to Health Canada, the recall is classified as a Type II recall, which may cause temporary adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote.

The recall notice emphasizes the importance of consulting healthcare providers before discontinuing use, especially if there are health concerns related to the product.

Vita Health Products is a manufacturer of Kirkland products, while Kirkland itself is a premium in-store brand of Costco.

Consumers urged to check lot numbers for Kirkland Signature Women 50+

Consumers are urged to confirm whether any of their Kirkland Signature Women 50+ products are affected by checking the lot number.

Consumers are advised not to consume, serve, use, sell or distribute the recalled Kirkland Signature Women 50+ (multivitamin and minerals) tablets. The product may be returned to any Costco warehouse for a full refund, the Kirkland recall notice says.

Health Canada advises consumers to report any side effects or safety complaints related to the recalled product.
