ZWILLING J.A. Henckels Aktiengesellschaft is recalling more than 113,000 electric water kettles due to potential safety hazards. The recall, announced jointly with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission on May 14, affects products distributed across North America.
The affected items include the 1.5-liter ZWILLING ENFINIGY Electric Kettle and the 1.5-liter ZWILLING ENFINIGY Electric Kettle Pro. The recalled model numbers are 53101-200 and 53101-201 for the standard ENFINIGY model, and 53101-500, 53101-501, 53101-502, 53101-503 and 53101-504 for the Pro model.
The stainless-steel electric kettles were available in various colors โ including black, silver, rose, gold and pure-white โ with the brand name “ZWILLING” silk-printed directly onto the front. The model numbers and branding are located on the bottom of the kettle as well as the bottom of the power base.
They were sold at HomeGoods stores nationwide and online at zwilling.com from December 2019 through February 2026, retailing for between $120 and $200.
The ZWILLING recall was prompted by discoveries that the handle on the 1.5 L models can unexpectedly loosen or break off entirely during normal use.
According to the recall notice, “the kettle’s handle can loosen and separate from the kettle, causing hot contents to spill, posing a risk of serious injury due to a burn hazard.”
ZWILLING recall reports 163 incidents, including second-degree burn injury
The recall notice highlights the severe nature of the risks involved, noting that ZWILLING has received 163 reports of the kettle handles loosening or separating. Among these incidents, five resulted in the handle separating completely, including one confirmed report of a consumer suffering second-degree burns.
Consumers are urged to stop using the recalled electric kettles immediately to prevent potential injury.
To receive a full refund, U.S. consumers are instructed to visit ZWILLINGโs dedicated recall page to follow instructions on how to render the appliance completely unusable. This process involves unplugging the kettle, cutting the power cord and uploading a photo of the disabled product to the online registration portal before safely disposing of it.
The company has assured consumers that they will receive a full reimbursement for their purchase once the registration and verification process is complete.
