GE Appliances is recalling about 155,000 of its Free-Standing French Door Refrigerators in Fingerprint Resistance Stainless Steel over concerns they can tip over and fall.

The recall was initiated after GE Appliances discovered that the handle on the freezer drawer door can detach when pulled, posing a fall hazard, according to a recall notice posted by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) on Apr. 14.

GE Appliances says it will remedy the issue through repair. It has received 71 reports of freezer drawer door handles detaching, leading to 37 injuries that includes three “serious” fall injuries, according to the recall.

The recall is being done in conjunction with Canada, where around 2,300 units were sold, and involves six 36-inch-wide models of the GE-brand French Door Refrigerators.

Consumers are being advised to contact GE Appliances to determine if their refrigerator is included in the recall and, if so, to schedule a free in-home service appointment to have the issue fixed.
