  • Who: Two of Searayโ€™s Sauerkraut Fish products and two of Our Chinese Heartโ€™s Sauerkraut Fish products are being recalled in Canada.

  • Where: The recalls are nationwide in Canada.

Two of Searayโ€™s Sauerkraut Fish products and two of Our Chinese Heartโ€™s Sauerkraut Fish products are being recalled in Canada due to undeclared milk.

Both the Searay Foods Inc. and Metro Marine Corporation, producer of Our Chinese Heart products, recalls were triggered by Canadian Food Inspection Agency test results, according to the recall notices.

Searay Foods Inc. is recalling Searay brand Sauerkraut Fish (Szechuan Style) Spicy and Sauerkraut Fish (Golden Soup) as they may contain milk, which is not declared on the label, according to the recall notice.

The Szechuan Style sauerkraut comes in a 400-gram packet and has the UPC 8 27510 00494 2. It has the best-before date of 2022 JL 02 with lot number 2101181CHG.

The Golden Soup sauerkraut has the UPC 8 27510 00493 5. It has the best-before date of 2022 JN 15 with lot number 2012202CHG and best-before date of 2022 JL 02 with lot number 2101182CHG.

The products were sold in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Quebec and Saskatchewan and may have been distributed in other provinces and territories.

Consumers Should Check For Products, Throw Out Or Return

Meanwhile, Metro Marine Corporation is recalling Our Chinese Heart brand Sauerkraut Tilapia (Hot Spicy) and Golden Soup Sauerkraut Fish (Tilapia (Mild Spicy)) for the same reason. The recalled sauerkraut products were sold in British Columbia and Manitoba and may have been distributed in other provinces and territories, according to the recall notice.

The Hot Spicy sauerkraut has the UPC 0 13980 90130 4 and production date of 2021 JA 04. The Mild Spicy sauerkraut has the UPC 0 13980 90129 8 and production date of 2021 JA 04.

So far, there are no reports of reactions associated with either of the products.

Both companies are urging consumers to check for the products in their homes, and, if they have an allergy to milk, they have told to โ€œnot consume the recalled products as they may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction.โ€

The recalled products should be thrown out or returned to the location where they were purchased.

Recently, Two Bears had to recall its Barista Friendly Unsweetened Oat M*lk, which was sold nationwide in Canada, due to undeclared milk.

In a more skin-crawling product recall, Anhydra recalled its Organic Dehydrated Bananas this week due to the presence of insects โ€” and it isnโ€™t the only company in Canada that has had to pull dried bananas off the shelves after insects were found inside: In January, Miski Organics had to recall its Organic Dried Banana Slices, sold in Ontario and Quebec, for the same reason.
