Rocky Mountain Soap Company hand sanitizer, sunscreen recall overview:

Rocky Mountain Soap Company recalled six hand sanitizers, a lip butter and a sunscreen as the products were not made to legal manufacturing standards.
In a recall notice posted June 16 to the Health Canada website, Rocky Mountain Soap Company say it recalled all lots of two Broadspectrum brand solar protection products due to “quality concerns linked to deficiencies in Good Manufacturing Practices.”
“The microbial content/total aerobic microbial content may be out of specification in the affected lots,” the recall states.
The affected products are the Broadspectrum Vanilla Coconut SPF 15 Lip Butter and the Broadspectrum Face & Body Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 31.
The recall notice says to stop using the recalled products and consult a health care professional if you have used them and have health concerns.
“Continue using other sunscreen as directed on the product label,” the notice says.
Six Nomad hand sanitizers recalled due to undeclared methanol
Rocky Mountain Soap Company has also recalled six hand sanitizers due to the potential presence of undeclared methanol. The Health Canada website posted the recall notice June 16. It applies to various Nomad brand hand sanitizers, which can be seen here.
The recall says there are quality concerns in regards to the affected lots due to deficiencies in good manufacturing practices, meaning the products may contain methanol at elevated levels.
The recall advises customers to stop using the product and consult a health care professional if you have used it and have health concerns.
“If the product is swallowed, call a poison control centre or seek medical help immediately,” the recall notice states.
The recalled products should be returned to your local pharmacy for proper disposal or disposed of as per regional guidelines.
The recalls did not state whether there had been any customer injuries or incidents in regards to the recalled products.
The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes end in class action lawsuits.
Meanwhile, in April, Health Canada recalled lots of a hand sanitizer from The Newfoundland Distillery Company because they may have contained a too-high concentration of acetaldehyde, a toxic chemical compound.
