The espresso maker has a stainless steel safety valve that may burst and expel hot contents, posing burn or other injury hazards to consumers, the recall says.

“Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled products and contact IKEA for a full refund,” according to the recall.

As of June 6, 2022, the company had received one report of the product bursting during use resulting in an injury in Canada.

Globally, the company has received 12 reports of incidents and 3 additional reports of injuries, it said.

IKEA Canada recall says METALLISK espresso maker sold from Sept. 2020-Feb. 2022

The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes end in class action lawsuits.

The affected products were sold from September 2020 to February 2022. The METALLISK Espresso maker for cooktop has a silver-gray stainless steel safety valve located near the base of the product.

Consumers should look for article number 703.602.25 printed on an adhesive label on the bottom of the product. The affected products have date stamps between 2040 and 2204 located on the bottom of the product.

Last year, IKEA Canada issued a recall of some diningware due to reports of the products breaking.
