Below Zero Frozen Raspberries Recall Does Not State Whether Consumers Have Been Sickened

Norovirus is a very contagious virus that causes vomiting and diarrhea. A person usually develops symptoms 12 to 48 hours after being exposed. Most people with norovirus illness get better within 1 to 3 days.

If you have norovirus illness, you can feel extremely ill and vomit or have diarrhea many times a day, health authorities say. This can lead to dehydration, especially in young children, older adults and people with other illnesses.

The recall did not state whether anyone had been sickened by the contamination so far. The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes end in class action lawsuits.

In March, the Canadian government issued multiple warnings over a foodborne illness outbreak linked to norovirus in raw oysters. This led to recalls for certain Taylor Shellfish and Pacific Rim Shellfish oysters due to possible norovirus contamination.

What do you think of these instances of norovirus in food? Let us know in the comments!
