Circle K sandwiches may be contaminated, recall states
The company initiated the recall after discovering that the sandwiches may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, the notice says.
Food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes may not look or smell spoiled but can cause vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache and neck stiffness.
Pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems are particularly at risk.
“Do not consume, serve, use, sell, or distribute recalled products,” the recall states. “Recalled products should be thrown out or returned to the location where they were purchased.”
There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of the products so far, the company says.
The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes end in class action lawsuits.
In July, Canadian food safety inspectors began recalling bags of enoki mushrooms, as the mushrooms may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.
