Stanley Black & Decker recalled around 2.2 million DeWALT, Stanley and Craftsman Fiberglass Sledgehammers sold in the United States over concerns their heads could prematurely loosen and detach unexpectedly during use.
The recall includes around 53,000 units sold in Canada, according to a recall the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) published April 20.
The sledgehammers recall advises consumers to immediately stop using the DeWALT, Stanley and Craftsman Fiberglass Sledgehammers and contact Stanley Black & Decker for instructions on how to obtain a full refund.
The CPSC says Stanley Black & Decker received 192 reports of the heads of the recalled fiberglass sledgehammers detaching, with two incidents resulting in injuries to the head and face of consumers.
Recalled fiberglass sledgehammers cost $18-$26
Stanley Black & Decker sold the recalled fiberglass sledgehammers at hardware stores nationwide and online from between November 2013 and November 2022 for around $18 to $26, according to the Stanley Black & Decker recall.
