Skittles Starburst Life Savers Gummies Metal Recall Overview: 

  • Who: Mars Wrigley has announced a recall of specific varieties of Skittles, Starbursts and Life Savers Gummies. 
  • Why: The gummies may contain pieces of metal.
  • Where: The gummies were sold nationally in Canada.

Mars Wrigley is recalling some Skittles, Starbursts and Life Savers gummies as they may contain pieces of metal.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency announced the recall May 17. The news comes several days after United States food inspectors announced a similar recall

In the U.S. notice, inspectors said customers had alerted the company to a “thin metal band” in the gummies or loose in the bag.

The recall applies to certain specific varieties of SKITTLES® Gummies, STARBURST® Gummies and LIFE SAVERS® Gummies with the specific varieties available here.

The recalled gummies were sold nationally in Canada. The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes end in class action lawsuits.

Skittles, Starburst, Life Savers Gummies Made By Third Party, Recall Notice Says

A third party manufactured and distributed the products in the United States, Canada and Mexico, the U.S. recall states. 

Mars Wrigley Confectionery US, LLC said it will work with retailers to remove recalled products from store shelves. 

“Do not use, sell, serve or distribute the affected products,” the Canadian recall states.

In other recall news, ​​the Canadian Food Inspection Agency recalled certain boxes of Below Zero frozen raspberries as they may contain norovirus. The agency issued a recall of Below Zero brand frozen Whole Raspberries in 1 kg boxes May 15 on its website.
