Polaris ROVs recall overview:ย

  • Who: Polaris has recalled more than 4,200 recreational off-road vehicles.
  • Why: The doors can open unexpectedly while driving.
  • Where: The Polaris recall is active in the United States and Canada.

Polaris is recalling more than 4,400 recreational off-road vehicles (ROVs) over concerns the doors can open unexpectedly while driving.

The Polaris recall was published to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission website on Jan. 16.ย

It applies to about 4,200 model year 2024-2025 Ranger XD 1500 and Crew XD 1500 ROVs sold in the United States, as well as 393 accessory doors, plus 291 ROVs sold in Canada.

According to the Polaris ROVs recall, the door handle can stick and cause the door to unexpectedly open while the vehicle is moving. This can cause a driver to be โ€œejected from the vehicle or increase the risk of a crash, posing serious injury and crash hazards,โ€ the Polaris recall says.

So far, the company has received 20 reports of doors opening unexpectedly while the recalled ROVs were in use, Polaris says. No injuries or crashes have been reported so far, and Polaris is not currently facing legal action, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they can sometimes result in lawsuits.

Company to contact owners of Polaris ROVs with remedy, safety instructions

The recalled ROVs were sold in camouflage, red, silver and titanium colors at Polaris dealers nationwide between November 2023 and November 2024 for between $40,000 and $50,500.

To remedy the issue, Polaris is contacting registered owners directly, as well as providing instructions on how to inspect their door handles to verify that the doors are properly closed.ย

โ€œThis will allow some consumers to continue to safely operate their vehicles until the repair can be completed,โ€ the company says.ย

Last year, Polaris issued recalls for certain model year 2024 Ranger Recreational Off-Road Vehicles and ProXD and Bobcat Utility Task Vehicles and model year 2024-2025 RZR XP 1000 and XP 4 1000 ROVs due to a potential seatbelt defect.ย
