Bagel recall overview:ย 

  • Who: A recall was issued for 28 varieties of Bigway, Co-op, Super A, and TGP-branded bagels.ย 
  • Why: The recall was initiated over concerns the recalled bagels were contaminated with pieces of metal in connection with a recent Sifto brand HyยทGrade Salt recall.ย 
  • Where: The recalled bagels were distributed to Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Northwest Territories, Ontario, Saskatchewan and Yukon.

Various brands of bagels are being recalled over concerns they were contaminated with pieces of metal in connection with a recent Sifto brand HyยทGrade Salt recall.ย 

The recall was made to the retail level and involves 28 varieties of Bigway, Co-op, Super A, and TGP-branded bagels packaged between Nov. 4, 2024, and Nov. 27, 2024, and distributed to Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Northwest Territories, Ontario, Saskatchewan and Yukon.ย ย 

The recall was initiated over concerns affected salt from the Sifto brand HyยทGrade Salt recall in October was used to make the recalled bagels.ย 

Canadian Food Inspection Agency urges not to use, sell, serve, distributed recalled bagels

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency urged not to use, sell, serve or distribute the recalled bagel products, which were sold in 6-count packages with various Universal Product Codes.ย 

The agency issued a notification for a Class II recall โ€” given when a product has a low chance of causing serious injury or death, but can still cause adverse events โ€” to the manufacturer and warehouse level for the Sift brand HyยทGrade Salt recall on Oct. 30.ย 

Baloian Farms of Arizona and Russ Davis Wholesale issued separate recalls for cucumbers broadly distributed to Alberta and British Columbia โ€” along with a number of U.S. states โ€” earlier this month over concerns they could be contaminated with salmonella.ย
