Burnbrae Farms issued a recall for multiple brands of shell eggs over concerns they may be contaminated with salmonella.ย

The recall involves certain Compliments, Foremost, Golden Valley Eggs, IGA, Western Family and brandless eggs with expiration dates of Feb. 16, Feb. 22 and March 1. The eggs were distributed in British Columbia,ย  Manitoba, Ontario and possibly other provinces and territories.ย

The recall initially included Alberta and Saskatchewan, however, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has since removed them from the recall notice, reports the CBC.ย

The CFIA advises not to consume, use, sell, serve or distribute the recalled egg products and to either throw them out or return them to their original place of purchase.ย

Shell eggs product salmonella recall triggered by test results

The CFIA said the recall โ€” which is directed at hotels, restaurants, institutions and the general public โ€” was triggered as a result of test results.ย

There have been reported illnesses in connection with the recall, according to the agency, which classified the recall as a Class II, meaning consuming the recalled eggs could cause temporary health problems or a slight chance of serious health issues.

Consumers who are unsure if they purchased the recalled egg products are advised to contact their retailer.ย

In other recent recall news, retailer Loblaw Companies Limited issued a recall for Presidentโ€™s Choice brand Mediterranean Sea Salts and Himalayan Pink Rock Salts in late December over concerns the salts contained pieces of plastic.ย
