Lexmark recall overview:ย

  • Who: Lexmark International issued a recall for about 43,150 specialty printers sold in the U.S. and about 4,000 sold in Canada.ย
  • Why: The recall was initiated over concerns a metal part inside the recalled printers can dislodge, posing a fire risk.
  • Where: The printer recall affects consumers nationwide and in Canada.ย

Lexmark International issued a recall for more than 40,000 specialty printers over concerns a metal part inside the printers could dislodge, posing a fire risk.

The printer recall, which also involves about 4,000 printers sold in Canada, includes models MS725dvn and MX725adve Lexmark speciality printers used for printing on paper, vinyl signs, banners and other plastics.ย

Consumers are advised to immediately stop using the recalled printers and contact Lexmark to receive a free repair part, which Lexmark said snaps into the unit inside its rear access panel.ย

Lexmark has received two reports of recalled printers overheating

Lexmark said it has received two reports of the recalled printers overheating, leading to one fire. However, the company says injuries or damages have been reported in connection with the Lexmark recall.ย

The recalled printers were sold online at lexmark.com, CDW Logistics, Tech Data Product Management Inc. and Insight Direct USA Inc for between $1,000 and $4,200 between June 2018 and November 2024, according to the Lexmark recall.ย

Consumers with more questions about the printer recall can contact Lexmark by telephone at 866-470-1574, through its email or through its website.ย

In another printer-related case, HP and a certified class of consumers reached a settlement deal last year to resolve claims the company pushed out a software update to its printers that made them incompatible with the ink cartridges of other brands.ย
