Salt recall overview:ย 

  • Who: Retailer Loblaw Companies Limited issued a recall for Presidentโ€™s Choice brand Mediterranean Sea Salts and Himalayan Pink Rock Salts.
  • Why: The recall was initiated over concerns the salts contained pieces of plastic.
  • Where: The recall was issued to the retail level nationwide.ย 

Retailer Loblaw Companies Limited is recalling its Presidentโ€™s Choice brand Mediterranean Sea Salts and Himalayan Pink Rock Salts over concerns they contained pieces of plastic.ย 

The recall involves Presidentโ€™s Choice Mediterranean Sea Salts with Universal Product Code (UPC) 0 60383 97655 2 and best before date up to and including Jan. 17, 2026, and Himalayan Pink Rock Salts with UPC 0 60383 18288 5 and best before date up to and including Jan. 17, 2026.ย 

The salt recall was published by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) in the herbs and spices food category and issued nationwide to the retail level.ย 

The CFIA classified the recall as a Class III recall, meaning the recalled salt is unlikely to cause health problems if consumed or used.ย 

Retailers advised not to use, sell, serve, distribute recalled salt

Retailers are advised not to use, sell, serve or distribute the recalled Presidentโ€™s Choice salt products.ย 

Consumers with additional questions about the recall may contact the CFIA by telephone at 1-800-442-2342 or via its email.ย 

In another recent recall initiated over extraneous material concerns, various brands of bagels were recalled in December over worries they were contaminated with pieces of metal.ย 

The bagel recall was done in connection with an October recall for Sifto brand HyยทGrade Salt and included 28 total varieties of Bigway, Co-op, Super A, and TGP-brand bagels distributed to Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Northwest Territories, Ontario, Saskatchewan and Yukon.
