Ferrero Canada Kinder Chocolate Products Recall Overview:
- Who: Ferrero Canada has recalled a number of its Kinder brand chocolate products.
- Why: The recall was initiated over concerns of possible salmonella contamination.
- Where: The recall is nationwide.
Ferrero Canada has issued a recall for a number of Kinder brand chocolate products over concerns they may have been contaminated with salmonella.
The recalled products include certain Kinder brand Advent Calendars, Happy Moments – Kinder Confection Assortments, Mini Eggs and Mix – 7 Easter Treats, according to a recall notice published by the Government of Canada on Apr. 11.
Ferrero Canada is advising consumers not to consume the recalled products, which were sold nationally, and to either discard them or return them to their original place of purchase.
The recalled Kinder Advent Calendars include four total batches with two sold in 182 gram sizes with best-before dates through May 20, 2022; one sold in a 127 gram size with a best-before date of Mar. 2, 2022; and one sold in a 351 gram size with a best-before date through Apr. 1, 2022.
Recalled Kinder Happy Moments – Kinder Confections Assortments were two batches each weighing 191 grams with best-before dates through July 8, 2022, and Aug. 7, 2022.
The recalled Kinder Mini Eggs include three batches with two sold in 182 gram sizes with best-before dates through May 20, 2022, and Sept. 3, 2022, and one batch sold in a 110 gram size with a best-before date through Aug. 18, 2022.
One batch of Kinder Mix – 7 Easter treats was recalled that was sold in a 116 gram size with a best-before date through Sept. 3, 2022.
Ferrero Canada Urges Consumers To Contact Their Doctor If Ill
Consumers who feel they may have been sickened by the recalled Kinder chocolate products are urged to contact a doctor.
Ferrero Canada says the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is currently conducting a food safety investigation that it says could ultimately lead to more products being recalled at a later date.
The CFIA says it will keep consumers informed if another recall is necessary by updating recall warnings and is working to make sure that the recalled products are being properly removed from the marketplace, according to the recall notice.
Consumers who want more information about the recall can contact Ferrero Canada directly by phone at 1-877-337-7376 or the CFIA by email or phone at 1-800-442-2342.
The recall comes only four days after Ferrero U.S.A. initiated a recall for two of its Kinder chocolate products after discovering a possible contamination of salmonella typhimurium.
