Textron, Polaris off-road vehicles recalls overview:

  • Who: Polaris and Textron Specialized Vehicles announced off-road vehicle recalls earlier this month.
  • Why: The companies initiated the recalls over crash concerns.
  • Where: The off-road vehicle recalls impact consumers nationwide.

Automakers Polaris and Textron Specialized Vehicles announced recalls earlier this month for some of their off-road vehicles.

Polaris initiates recall for Northstar vehicles due to center brake line defect

The Polaris recall involves about 1,025 model year 2023 Polaris Ranger XP 1000 Northstar and XP 1000 Northstar Crew off-road vehicles, in addition to about 40 sold in Canada, equipped with an improperly installed center brake line.

The improperly installed center brake line can cause the off-road vehicles’ rear brake circuit to remain pressurized during operation, overheating the brakes, reducing their performance and posing a fire and crash hazard, the recall states.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled Polaris off-road vehicles and contact the automaker or an authorized dealer to schedule a free inspection and potential repair, according to the recall.

Polaris says it received one report of a fire and three reports of kinked brake lines related to the recall but no reports of crashes or injuries.

The company sold the recalled off-road vehicles at Polaris dealers nationwide from June 2023 to Sept. 2023 for $27,900-$37,700.

Textron Specialized Vehicles announces 2 recalls over vehicle safety concerns

Textron Specialized Vehicles announced separate recalls earlier this month for certain Electric Powered E-Z GO ELiTE Express L6, EliTE Express S6 PTV and Tracker OX EV vehicles and model year 2022-2023 Arctic Cat Prowler Pro/Pro Crew and Tracker Off Road 800SX/800SX Crew Side-by-Side Recreational Off-Highway Vehicles.

Textron recalled its Electric Powered E-Z-GO ELiTE Express L6 and EliTE Express S6 PTV and Tracker OX EV vehicles over concerns their internal motor wiring could become damaged over time, causing the vehicle to move unintentionally under certain conditions.

The recall involves around 1,660 vehicles in the United States, around 60 sold in Canada and around 20 vehicles sold in Mexico.

Additionally, Textron recalled the Arctic Cat Prowler Pro/Pro Crew and Tracker Off Road 800SX/800SX Crew Side-by-Side Recreational Off-Highway Vehicles over concerns they could move when on an incline and in park.

The recall involves around 6,800 off-highway vehicles sold in the United States and about 700 sold in Canada.

Textron says it has not received any reports of injury connected to either recall.

Polaris initiated a number of recalls in recent months over safety concerns involving a pair of fuel leaks, dangerous handlebar hooks, an improperly welded seat belt bracket and a brake and throttle issue.
