Textron Arctic Cat, Tracker recall overview:

  • Who: Textron Specialized Vehicles recalled around 3,800 Arctic Cat Alterra 600 and Tracker 600 all-terrain vehicles.
  • Why: The ATVs’ A-arm is defective and can separate from the frame, causing the ATVs to lose steering control and potentially crash.
  • Where: The ATVs were sold in the United States and Canada.

Textron Specialized Vehicles recalled Arctic Cat Alterra 600 and Tracker 600 all-terrain vehicles due to a faulty A-arm.

The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission posted the notice, which also applies to ATVs sold in Canada.

The Arctic Cat recall impacts 3,800 ATVs sold in the United States and 1,200 sold in Canada. The Textron recall impacts 2022 Arctic Cat Alterra 600s with Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) from NT200101 to NT202064 and 2023 Arctic Cat Alterra 600s with VINs from PT200101 to PT200679. The Textron recall also applies to 2022 Tracker 600s with VINs from NT200101 to NT201929 and 2023 Tracker 600s with VINs from PT200101 to PT200697.

The Tracker and Arctic Cat recall is due to a faulty A-arm, which can disconnect and cause a loss of steering control, leading to potential crash and injury hazards, according to the recall.

Consumers should immediately stop using the ATVs, Textron recall notice says

Textron Specialized Vehicles says it has not received any reports of injury related to the recall so far. The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.

Consumers should immediately stop using the ATVs and contact Textron Specialized Vehicles for a free inspection and repair. Textron will tell dealers to inspect the A-arm for cracks and then add a supporting bracket. The main frame weldment will be replaced and bracket support will be added.

In related news, in March, Polaris initiated an ATV recall for 93,000 of its Sportsman series due to a fire risk.
