Snowmobile recalls overview:

  • Who: Polaris recalled 13,000 2022-2024 Matryx snowmobiles, while Bombardier Recreational Products recalled 13,700 Ski-Doo MXZ and Renegade snowmobiles with Pilot X skis.
  • Why: The clutch can fail on Polaris’ snowmobiles and the left ski can break on the Ski-Doo MXZ and Renegade snowmobiles, posing injury risks.
  • Where: The snowmobile recall is valid in the United States and Canada.

Polaris and Bombardier Recreational Products both announced snowmobile recalls due to defects that can pose injury risks.

Polaris recalled 13,000 Matryx snowmobiles for clutch issues, while Bombardier Recreational Products recalled 13,700 Ski-Doo MXZ and Renegade snowmobiles with Pilot X skis for issues with their left ski.

The snowmobiles recall includes 3,800 Polaris snowmobiles and 5,600 from Bombardier sold in Canada.

The Polaris recall includes 2022-2024 Matryx Voyageur, Indy, Switchback, RMK and SKS snowmobiles with Patriot 650 and 850 engines. Clutch issues can lead the clutch or its components to separate from the snowmobile.

The Polaris Matryx snowmobiles were previously recalled in May 2023, August 2023 and November 2023 for primary drive clutch issues.

The Bombardier recall includes all 2024 Ski-Doo MXZ and Renegade snowmobiles with Pilot X skis. The left ski can break, leading to a risk of crash or serious injury.

109 Polaris clutch issue reports, 27 broken Bombardier skis, snowmobile recalls say

Polaris says it received 109 reports of clutch issues, including nine where clutch components separated and one that resulted in a laceration injury.

Bombardier says it received 27 reports in the United States of skis breaking without causing any injuries, as well as one Canadian report of injury.

The companies are not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.

Customers should stop using the snowmobiles immediately. Polaris says owners of its recalled snowmobiles should contact the company or a Polaris dealer for a free clutch repair. Bombardier said it will provide a free inspection and left ski replacement at dealerships.

Polaris can be reached online, via email at Owner.Connections@polaris.com, or by phone at 800-765-2747 between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. CT, Monday through Friday.

Bombardier can be reached by online or by phone at 888-272-9222 between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. ET, seven days a week.
