Pirelli bicycle tires recall overview:

  • Who: Tire maker Pirelli recalled around 14,500 of its Pirelli P ZERO Race TLR Bicycle Tires in the United States and about 550 sold in Canada.
  • Why: Pirelli initiated the recall over concerns the bike tires could rapidly deflate as a result of a product defect, posing a fall hazard.
  • Where: The recall affects consumers in the United States and Canada.

Tire manufacturer Pirelli recalled around 14,500 of its Pirelli P ZERO Race TLR Bicycle Tires over concerns they could rapidly deflate, presenting a fall risk.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) published the recall Sept. 7. It also includes 550 bicycle tires sold in Canada.

The CPSC says the tire beads on the recalled Pirelli bicycle tires can unseat from the rim, which leads to rapid air loss that can result in a loss of control of the bike.

The recall encompasses several models of size 28-622 Pirelli P ZERO TM Race TLR bike tires with either classic, yellow, white, red or gold branding with production date codes ranging from 1023 to 2423.

Pirelli received 1 report of injury, CPSC says

Consumers who own the recalled Pirelli bicycle tires should immediately stop using them and contact the company directly to receive either a free replacement product or a full refund.

Pirelli says it received one report of rapid air loss in connection with the recall, resulting in a minor injury.

Pirelli sold the bicycle tires at Angry Catfish, Trek and Competitive Cyclist retail stores nationwide for around $100 from March 2023 to July 2023, according to the Pirelli recall.

Individuals who want more information about the recall can contact Pirelli directly by phone at (800) 622-2390, online or through email

BM International Electric, Sakar International and Jetson Electric Bikes initiated other bike-related recalls earlier this year.
