SunFed Produce issued a recall for all sizes of its whole cucumbers over concerns they may have been contaminated with salmonella.ย

The recalled whole cucumbers were sold by SunFed and other importers between Oct. 12, 2024, and Nov. 26, 2024, to customers in 26 U.S. states and multiple Canadian provinces.ย

The recalled cucumbers would have reached consumers through either food service or retail outlets, according to the recall.ย

โ€œAs soon as we learned of this issue, we immediately acted to protect consumers. We are working closely with authorities and the implicated ranch to determine the possible cause,โ€ SunFed President Craig Slate said in a statement.ย

FDA informed SunFed cucumbers linked to salmonella illnesses

SunFed initiated the recall after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration informed the company that the cucumbers were linked to salmonella-related illnesses between Oct. 12, 2024 and Nov. 15, 2024, according to the recall.ย

The company said it is contacting its direct buyers directly to inform them about the recall and said none of its other products are affected.ย

Consumers are advised to check if they have the recalled cucumbers and, if so, throw out or destroy them so that they can not be eaten or return them to their original place of purchase.ย

Individuals with more questions about the recall can contact SunFed at its phone recall hotline at 888-542-5849.ย

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced earlier this year that it was investigating a multistate salmonella outbreak linked to cucumbers that sickened 449 people across 31 states, as of July 2, 2024.ย
