x-ray of a hip implant regarding Wright Profemur Hip Implant Class Action SettlementA settlement has been proposed in a Canada-wide hip implant class action lawsuit over allegations the Wright Profemur Hip Implant System fractured and caused hip implant patients to require revision surgery.

If you received a Wright Profemur Hip implant and you had to undergo revision surgery due to a hip implant fracture, you could be entitled to compensation from the hip implant class action settlement if the deal is approved.

The Wright Profemur Hip Implant System consists of a modular stem, a Profemur neck and a femoral head. This design allows orthopaedic surgeons a greater range of options for modifying the hip implant for an individual patient than conventional hip replacement systems.

Health Canada approved the Wright Profemur Hip Implant System in February 2001. The Wright hip implant class action lawsuit was originally filed in 2011.

The Wright defendants have not admitted liability but agreed to pay up to $8.25 million to settle the hip implant class action lawsuit.

Class Members of the proposed Wright hip implant settlement include all Canadian residents who were implanted with the Wright Profemur Hip Implant System after February 2001 and who experienced a hip implant fracture that required revision surgery.

The amount of compensation each Class Member will receive depends on the total number of claims that are approved.

Once the claims process opens, Class Members who wish to file a claim will likely be asked to submit supporting information about their hip implant surgery, including the location of the Wright Profemur Hip Implant System, the implant date, the name of hospital and the name of the surgeon who completed the surgery and the revision.

Claimants will also likely be required to submit identification stickers and operative reports for the Wright Profemur Hip Implant System, according to the hip implant class action settlement documents.

More information about how to submit a claim will be posted online once the settlement is approved and the claims period opens.

If you would like to object to the Wright Profemur hip implant settlement, you must submit your objection in writing no later than April 3, 2020.

The approval hearing for the proposed hip implant class action settlement has been scheduled for April 27, 2020.
