Yardworks has issued a recall for 5,600 of its 15-Amp Electric Corded Snowblower, 22-in, over concerns it can pose an electrical shock hazard.

The recall was initiated after Yardworks discovered the snowblower’s power cable can become brittle and break in temperatures of negative 20 degrees Celsius, according to a recall published by the Government of Canada on Mar. 25.

Consumers who purchased the affected Yardworks snowblower are being advised to immediately stop using it and to return the unit to any Canadian Tire Store to receive a full refund.

The recall affects two batches of Yardworks snowblowers with batch numbers 12621 and 52921. Consumers can locate the batch number on the product’s back.

Yardworks Received 6 Reports f Power Cables Breaking

Yardworks says it received six reports of power cables breaking on the affected snowblowers; however, no one has reported an injury, according to the recall.

The affected snowblowers were manufactured in China and sold in Canada between September 2021 to February 2022, according to the recall.

Consumers with more questions about the recall can contact the Canadian Tire Call Centre by phone at 1-800-387-8803.

Last year, Yardworks recalled 42,500 packs of assorted kids’ garden tools over a ‘chemical hazard,’ as they contain more barium than is legally allowed.

  1. Jason Pike says:

They are not giving a FULL Refund. Only giving you $129 for what they are calling a full refund. And since it is a discontinued product you are forced to take a small reimbursement to put toward another machine
