NorseKoden Kattnakken Junior Rain Jacket Recall Overview:

  • Who: NorseKoden has recalled its Kattnakken Junior Rain Jackets, sizes 5 through 12.
  • Why: The drawstrings in the jackets pose a strangulation hazard with the company saying they could get caught on playground equipment, fences or other objects and result in strangulation.
  • Where: The recall is effective in Canada.

NorseKoden has recalled its Kattnakken Junior Rain Jackets, sizes 5 through 12, due a strangulation hazard posed by the drawstring.

In a recall notice, the company says the drawstrings can get caught on playground equipment, fences or other objects and result in strangulation, or in the case of a vehicle, the child being dragged.

NorseKoden is urging consumers to immediately remove the drawstring from the children’s upper outerwear to eliminate the hazard.

As of Jan. 17, 2022, the company says it has received no reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of this product in Canada.

Kattnakken sold 22 of the jackets in Canada, either alone or as a set with pants, it says in the notice. The jacket is made of an exterior polyurethane knit with an interior polyester lining.  The rain jacket has a zipper, an adjustable hood, snap buttons, welded seams and reflectors.

Recalled Jackets Sold From October 2020 To January 2022

The recalled products in include the Navy Blue Rain Jacket, Orange Love Rain Jacket, Orchid Purple Rain Jacket and the Pink Rain Jacket, all with style number 1024; the Navy Blue Rain Set, style number 212-10-40-056; and the Yellow Rain Set, style number 212-10-20-078.

The affected products were made in China and sold from October 2020 to January 2022.

In December, U.S. company Longwood Forest recalled 39,900 Angel Line Bunk Beds with angled ladders due to serious entrapment and strangulation hazards that left a 2-year-old boy from Ohio dead. The company said in the recall notice that the metal hook fastening the ladder to the top bunk bed frame can move away or detach from the bed frame when the ladder is lifted, causing the gap between the ladder step and bed frame to open wider than 3.5 inches.
