Man having car trouble regarding the Transport Canada vehicle recall

A number of vehicles have been recalled in Canada over safety concerns. It is important to be aware of these recalls in case you or someone you know is affected and needs to either stop driving the vehicle or get repairs. Here are the latest in Canada automobile recalls.

Ford Edge, Lincoln MKX, and Lincoln Corsair Recalls

Two recalls in Canada involving 63,367 Ford vehicles have been issued over safety concerns with the brakes and a coil spring hazard.

The bulk of the recall includes the Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX. 62,876 Ford Edge vehicles manufactured between 2015 and 2018 and 2016 to 2018 Lincoln MKX vehicles are included in the canada vehicle recall. The vehicles were manufactured between 2014 and 2017 at the Oakville Assembly Plant.

The recall was cited when Ford announced that the front brake hoses were inadequate. The brake hoses can break and result in a brake fluid leak, which could then cause the brakes to decrease in performance. It could be harder to slow down or stop, resulting in a greater likelihood of a crash.

According to Ford, the faulty brake hoses will be replaced. Drivers of the affected vehicles may have seen their brake fluid warning light come on due to the issue.

Another Ford recall in Canada includes 491 affected 2020 Lincoln Corsairs. The recall was announced due to a rear coil spring hazard. The rear coil spring could break, potentially causing drivers behind the affected vehicle to encounter a road hazard and crash.

Thankfully, there has not been any reports of these Canada recalls causing accidents or injuries, as far as Ford is reportedly aware.

Mercedes-Benz GLB Class Recall

Mercedes-Benz is involved in one of the Canada automobile recalls after 806 GLB Class vehicles were implicated for a safety concern. The affected Mercedes-Benz GLB Class vehicles might have a safety issue with the rear spoiler not being securely fastened. The recall was announced because there is a risk that the rear spoiler could come off of the vehicle causing a hazard to other cars on the road or people nearby.

Mercedes-Benz is taking action to correct the safety issue. The company will contact owners of the affected vehicles by mail. In the letter, drivers will be instructed to bring the vehicle to a dealer who will examine the safety of the rear spoiler. A repair will be covered if needed in the Canada automobile recall.

BMW X6 Recall

Transport Canada has also cited a recall of the BMW X6. Certain affected vehicles have a rear spoiler that may not be fastened properly. The rear spoiler could detach if it is not secured as it should be. Similar to the Mercedes-Benz vehicle recall, the detaching of the rear spoiler could cause a hazard for cars or people in the vicinity. If you are a driver of one of the six recalled BMW X6s, you will be notified by the company. You will be advised to take your vehicle to a dealer to have an inspection on your rear spoiler done. All vehicles that require repair will have one done.Mechanic working on car regarding the Transport Canada recall

Coachmen and Forest River Motorhomes Recall

54 Coachmen and Forest River motorhomes have been recalled in Canada. Some of the motorhomes built on a Freightliner are being recalled due to a safety hazard with the rear-mounted Power Distribution Module (PDM). The safety hazard involving the PDM might cause the tail lights to function improperly. This motorhome recall is an extension of the 2018-582 recall.

The following motorhomes are affected:

  • Coachmen Sportscoach models from 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020
  • Forest River Berkshire models from 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020
  • Forest River Legacy models from 2017, 2018, and 2019

The safety hazard involves potentially faulty brake lights, marker lights, or directionals. Without these lights functioning properly, the motorhome is less visible and other drivers might not realize that the motorhome is braking or turning, resulting in a higher likelihood of a crash.

Forest River will contact drivers of the affected motorhomes by mail. Drivers will be advised to take the vehicle to Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) to replace the PDM.

Thor Motor Coach Recall

The last Transport Canada recall to note is the Thor Motor Coach with swivel seats. The wiring harness under the swivel seat may be improperly installed, sparking a safety concern. The wiring harness could be damaged from the movement of the seat. This safety issue could also cause the side airbag to malfunction in a crash, or deploy prematurely without a crash happening.

22 motor homes have been a part of the recall in Canada. The affected motor homes include:

  • 2020 Chateau
  • 2020 Compass
  • 2020 Four Winds
  • 2020 Quantum

If the side airbag wiring is impaired, the SRS light will stay on. A faulty airbag could increase the risks of harm during a crash. Thor Motor Coach will contact drivers by mail. You will be instructed to take your motorhome to a Mercedes-Benz dealer for an inspection and repairs will be done as needed.

2012 Subaru Impreza – engine value spring recall had it done in February 2020 – CAR WAS DRIVING PERFECTLY UNTIL NOW – we’re into 5 months now and the engine light and vehicle traction light has come on 3 times (July/August), the windshield sensor light came on and stayed on for awhile (even when it’s filled up). A friend who has a code reader says its the Camshaft Sensor. Service Advisor says its not because of the recall that this is happening. BUT low and behold the technician also got the same reading !! WTF ?
