Several recalls affecting vehicles and food items across Canada have been announced this month.
In the auto industry, Hyundai recalled 300 of its 2022 Santa Fe Hybrid and PHEV vehicles last week, after discovering their digital instrument clusters could fail if the car is started in extremely cold weather, Guide Auto reports.
The issue is due to a manufacturing error related to the wrong resistors being installed in the vehicles’ dashboard.
Hyundai says it plans to notify vehicle owners of the issue and will request they bring their cars into a dealership so they can be fixed at no cost, Guide Auto reports.
Hyundai issued a separate recall this month for certain of its 2021 Santa Fe and Sonata vehicles containing windshields that may be poorly secured.
Also last week, Ford issued a recall for almost 200,000 vehicles in the United States after discovering their brake lights may stay on even after the brake pedal is released, Driving reports.
Vehicles May Inadvertently Shift Out Of Park, Ford Says
Further, Ford found affected vehicles with automatic transmissions may inadvertently shift out of park even with the brake pedal being held down.
The issue affects certain model year 2014-15 Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ sedans, along with 2015 Ford Mustang convertibles and coupes, Driving reports.
Ford says the affected vehicles were sold or registered in around 10 different U.S. states where climate conditions may have caused the vehicles’ brake pedal bumper to separate from the brake pedal.
It is not yet known how many vehicles in Canada are affected by the Ford recall, Driving reports.
Hashbrowns May Contain Extraneous Plastic Material, Says Selection
In produce, Health Canada issued recalls for a number of food items earlier this month, including Aoun brand Tahineh, Nourishment Meals brand Pulled Chicken & Rice Burritos, Dole and President’s Choice brand salad products, Selection brand Quick Fry Hashbrowns and Moncton Fish Market brand “La” Stimpson’s Surf Clams, Narcity reports.
The Aoun Tahineh and Nourishment Meals Pulled Chicken & Rice Burritos were recalled over salmonella concerns with the affected products sold primarily in Ontario and Quebec and in B.C., respectively.
The Dole & President’s Choice salad products were sold across Canada and recalled over concerns of a possible contamination of Listeria monocytogenes, Narcity reports.
The Selection Quick Fry Hashbrowns were sold in Quebec and Ontario and recalled after it was discovered they may contain extraneous plastic material.
Lastly, the Moncton Fish Market “La” Stimpson’s Surf Clams were recalled over the potential presence of Clostridium botulinum affecting product that was sold in unrefrigerated jars at the Moncton Fish Market in New Brunswick, Narcity reports.
