Shocked kid consumer regarding the products recalled due to hazards

There have been several consumer products recalled in Canada due to dangerous hazards. Check to see if you or a loved one owns one of the following potentially hazardous products. If you or someone you know does own one of the recalled products, you’re advised to immediately stop using it and return it for a refund. 

Products Recalled Over Fire Hazards

The Monoprice Category 6 Ethernet Bulk CMR Communications Cable has been recalled in Canada over a flammability hazard. The cable does not meet UL 1666 flammability requirements and can pose a risk of spreading a fire. 

The recalled hazardous cables come in black, blue, gray, orange, pink, red, white and yellow and in three different lengths, 76.2 metres (250 feet), 152.4 metres (500 feet) and 304.8 metres (1000 feet).

The company has not received any reports of fires due to the cables as of Sept. 9, 2020. 

If you have bought one of these recalled cables, contact Monoprice and the company will provide free installation of a new cable.

The Merkury brand 4-Port Charger with a wireless pad has also been recalled because the product can overheat and possibly start a fire. The recalled port charger features a 399-3581 product number and a MIC-QISC2 model number. You can find these numbers on the back of the charger.

There have been five overheating reports in Canada as of Sept. 2, 2020, but no injuries have been disclosed. 5,100 affected chargers were sold in Canada from June 2018 to July 2020.

Stop using the port charger right away and return it for a refund.

Products Recalled Over Fall Hazards

A bicycle rack has been recalled in Canada for a potential fall risk. The Cannondale Treadwell Front Bicycle Rack with Bamboo Tray is recalled because the front of the rack may detach from the bicycle, resulting in the front wheel to abruptly stop. The hazards include the consumer falling off the bicycle and/or injury. 

Specifically, the 2020 model Cannondale Treadwell Front Bicycle Rack with Bamboo Tray, featuring a metal frame has been recalled in Canada.

There has been one report of a consumer falling in Canada as of Aug. 26, 2020, and three fall reports in the United States. There have been six incidents resulting in injury reported internationally. 

If you own a Cannondale Treadwell Front Bicycle Rack with Bamboo Tray, you should stop using it and contact the company to receive an installation of a new bicycle rack with updated parts.

Bicycle recalled due to fall and injury hazard 2021 Norco Storm 4 and Storm 5 bicycles have also been recalled in Canada after a defect that could cause a fall hazard was discovered. If a rider is pedalling rapidly, the bicycle chain can skip resulting in loss of control and potentially a fall. The recalled bicycles are fitted with a Sugek CS-M3007 7-speed cassette.

The serial numbers of the recalled bikes are located underneath the bike’s lower bracket. You can find the serial numbers of affected bikes here.

There have been no reports of the bike’s faulty cassette causing any incidents in Canada as of Sept. 9, 2020, According to the company, there were 1385 affected bikes sold in Canada from April to September 2020.

If you bought a 2021 Norco Storm 4 or Storm 5 bicycle, stop riding it and contact a Norco retailer to get a replacement cassette. 

Elho BV Greenville plant hangers have also been recalled in Canada because high temperatures can distort the plastic and cause the plant hangers to fall from balconies. The recalled plant hangers come in different sizes: 45 centimetres diameter, 9.2 litres and 20 centimetres diameter, 3.3 litres. 

The company has not received any reports of injuries in Canada as of Aug. 24, 2020, but there have been six international reports of falling plant hangers. If you have this recalled product you’re advised to take down the plant hangers and return them for a refund.

Children’s Pillows Pose a Chemical Hazard

The Ximi Vogue Children’s U-shaped neck pillows are recalled in Canada over excess lead becoming a chemical hazard. The recalled children’s pillows come in blue, gray, green, and pink. The pillows have zippers on the back and the bar code is on the side of the pillow. The pillow’s zipper contains lead over the allowed limits. Lead is dangerous and can build up in the body over time. 

“Since lead builds up in the body, ongoing exposure to even very small amounts of lead can result in large amounts of lead being present in the body,” the recall notice states. 

If you have a Ximi Vogue Children’s U-shaped neck pillow you’re advised to stop using it right away and return it for a refund.

Choking Hazard Causes Swim Snorkel Recall

The Arena Swim Snorkel Pro II and Swim Snorkel II have been recalled due to choking hazards caused by the snorkels releasing extra material inside the mouthpiece during use.

The snorkel recall includes the Arena Swim Snorkel Pro II in style 001369 and Swim Snorkel II  in style 001970, both styles are manufactured in three different colours. One exclusion of the recall is the pink Swim Snorkel II with a clear mouthpiece.  

There have been no reports of choking incidents in either Canada or Mexico as of July 7, 2020. 3510 recalled snorkels were sold in Canada and another 3100 were sold in Mexico from Feb. 2018 to May 2020.

Stop using the recalled snorkels and contact the company for a free replacement.
