Clarks Americas has recalled around 113,000 of its navy colored Breeze Ave, Breeze Shore, and Breeze Step womenโ€™s shoes over concerns they contain toxic chemicals that could harm consumers.

The recall was initiated after Clarks discovered that โ€œprolonged and direct contactโ€ with the upper material in the shoe can expose the shoe wearer to the chemicals benzidine and/or dimethoxybenzidine.

Clarks has additionally recalled around 10,000 units of the womenโ€™s shoes that were sold in Canada, according to a recall notice published by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission on Nov. 3.

The recalled womenโ€™s shoes were sold during the Spring/Summer 2022 season, were in sizes 5 through 12, and came with white soles and blue uppers, according to the Clarks recall.

Clarks advising consumers to immediately stop wearing recalled womenโ€™s shoes

Clarks is advising consumers to immediately stop wearing the recalled womenโ€™s shoes and to visit its website to receive instructions on how they can get a full refund.

Consumers must upload a photo of the womenโ€™s shoes and send it to Clarks in order for the company to determine if they are included in the recall, according to the Clarks recall.

Clarks says it has received no reports of injuries connected to the recall. Consumers who want more information about the recall can contact Clarks directly by phone at 800-480-5092, through email, or online

The recalled womenโ€™s shoes were sold for around $65 at Clarks outlet stores, along with JC Penney, Kohlโ€™s, QVC, Macyโ€™s, DSW, Shoe Carnival, Zappos, and online at Clarksusa.com from between February 2022 and October 2022, according to the Clarks recall.

A class action lawsuit was filed against Clarks in 2014 by an employee arguing that the company shorted its retail managers on their overtime pay at dozens of its California retail locations.
