Ford Canada Super Duty roof class action lawsuit overview:
- Who: Jeremiah Jacob Put filed a class action lawsuit against Ford Canada.
- Why: Put claims Ford Canada sold model year 1999-2016 Ford Super Duty trucks containing weak roofs that are susceptible to collapsing in the event of a rollover crash.
- Where: The class action lawsuit was filed in the Supreme Court of British Columbia.
The roofs in model year 1999-2016 Ford Super Duty trucks are weak and can collapse in the event of a rollover accident, a new class action lawsuit filed against Ford Canada alleges.
Plaintiff Jeremiah Jacob Put claims the roofs of affected Ford Super Duty trucks can become level with the body of the truck in the event of a rollover accident, CarComplaints.com reports.
He argues the Ford Super Duty trucks contain weak roofs because Ford skimped on making sure they were safely built to reduce costs.
The Ford Canada class action lawsuit names Ford F-250, F-350, F-450 and F-550 Super Duty trucks containing the PHN-131 design platform.
Ford denies that the Super Duty roofs are defective or weak and has not issued a recall or made an attempt to warn owners about the allegedly dangerous roofs, CarComplaints.com reports.
Super Duty trucks lost value over company’s failure to disclose alleged roof defect, Ford class action says
Put argues the trucks have decreased in value because Ford Canada allegedly concealed the Super Duty roof defect.
A consumer filed a similar class action lawsuit against Ford Motor Company in the United States, arguing the company knowingly sold Super Duty pickup trucks containing defective roofs that are susceptible to collapsing in the event of a rollover crash.
Both class action lawsuits come on the heels of a $1.7 billion verdict made against Ford in favor of the family of a married couple who were killed after the roof of their model year 2002 F-250 Super Duty collapsed during a rollover accident.

This goes beyond Super Duty models and beyond 2016 model years.
My 2017 F150 has split down the seam on both sides of the roof from the windshield pillars back 4” Water was coming in and the fix was….wait for it…. A bead of clear silicone!!!!! This WILL collapse in a roll over. And Ford will do nothing
I owned a 2006 Ford f350. My wife rolled the truck and was injured. Broke and dislocated neck. My father was also in the truck and had a broken neck and back due to the roof collapsing.
