Vitamix Ascent recall overview:

  • Who: Vitamix expanded a previous recall to include a total of around 569,000 Vitamix Ascent® Series and Venturist® Series 8-ounce and 20-ounce blending containers and blade bases sold in the U.S. and about 122,000 sold in Canada.
  • Why: The recall was initiated over concerns the blending containers and blade bases could pose a laceration hazard.
  • Where: The recalled Vitamix blending containers and blade bases were sold nationwide.

Vitamix renounced and expanded a recall earlier for certain of its Vitamix Ascent® Series and Venturist® Series 8-ounce and 20-ounce blending containers and blade bases over concerns they could pose a laceration hazard.

The expanded recall involves around 569,000 blending containers and blade bases in the U.S. and about 122,000 that were sold in Canada. Approximately 105,000 of the recalled blending containers and blade bases were part of the initial recall in August 2018.

Vitamix said it is concerned the containers could separate from their blade base, causing the blades to be exposed and pose a laceration hazard for consumers.

Consumers — including those who participated in the 2018 recall — are advised to immediately stop using the recalled 8-ounce and 20-ounce blending containers and to contact Vitamix to be given a free repair kit.

Vitamix has received 27 reports of laceration injuries connected to recall

Vitamix has received 27 reports of laceration injuries in connection with the recalled blending containers and blade bases, including 11 reports from the initial 2018 recall, according to the Vitamix recall.

Consumers with more questions about the recall can contact Vitamix directly by telephone at 855-215-5178, via email or through the company’s website

Vitamix previously agreed to a class action settlement in 2018 to resolve claims the company’s high-end household and commercial blenders contained a defect that caused tiny particles of polytetrafluoroethylene to get into blended food.
