On 2021-12-01, I had begun giving my dog treats.

On 2021-12-03, I had noticed she was lethargic and sneezing. I continued to give my dog treats up until 2021-12-08, she showed the following symptoms such as: diarrhea, itching of face, vomiting, eye irritation (pus and eye closure), excessively runny nose, and congestion.

I had decided to stop giving my dog treats as it was the only change to her diet and daily routine.

A vet appointment had been scheduled for 2021-12-14. Topsoil Road veterinary clinic. I have a screen shot of that if required.

On 2021-12-11, I observed a warning regarding the Irish Rover treats, thus confirming our suspicions on the Irish Rover Treats.

    The vet bill was $74.51.

Irish Rover denied to refund my bill and failed to even take responsibility.

  2. Lana says:

My dog incurred a 2500.00 emergency vet bill after severe stomach and gastro and bleeding. Not only has the company refused to provide any assistance, but they responded in writing taking no responsibility and blaming my animal. I would happily join any class action.

My multipoo Angel also incurred et bill of $600.00. You co-operation will be greatly appreciated.

This was my puppies 1st Christmas so of course I bought the calander! My two children got their advent calander from Costco and so did their puppy! Each morning the kids would have their chocolate and then open up Monty to let him have his. After 6 days Monty was so extremely sick. Lethargic, and have huge amounts of diarrhea. He is 10 months so he is way past the stage of accidents in the house and he couldn’t even hold it till he was outside. It took him over 2 weeks to get better. I’m so pissed that this company never held their standards to a higher level.

We have a almost 8 year old Nova Scotia duck troller mix. He and my kids each received an advent calendar for the month of December from their elf on the shelf. December 1 to 5 my dog received these treats. The morning of December 6 he was so sick. Vomiting everywhere, and vomiting blood. My dog never gets sick. He was so sick. Went to the vets for emergency care, iv fluids, X-ray, meds, ect to hopefully perk him off because he was so sick and lethargic. He wasn’t back to himself within 3 days back at the vets again. Fluids, meds, X-rays. We couldn’t figure out what was going on. The only thing that had changed was getting these treats. He was touch and go for a while.
Thankfully he is still with us. But I have reached out to the company and haven’t received a letter absolutely nothing. I have $700 in vet bills, that should be paid. Feel free to contact me

    Hi,
    My name is Stephanie Gratton
I am reaching out to you completely heartbroken. We are dog lovers and treat our dog as one of the family.
We purchased an Irish rover dog treat advent calendar from Costco. We began giving my 6 year old Shar pei treats starting Dec 1 thru to Dec 4, when she suddenly died in my arms on our couch. She was a healthy, happy girl. The light in the house, she was so spunky and happy.
December 4th she passed away, we had no idea what caused her death and had been racking our brains ever since. We assumed heart failure because it was so abrupt. Saturday December 11, I received a call from Costco urging me to stop feeding my dog the Irish rover advent calendar, that it has been recalled due to quality concerns and I should return the item for a refund. The bell went off as soon as I received that call, I immediately knew this is what caused the sudden demise of my beautiful girl. I have been researching since this call and have found several groups that have been talking about how sick there pets are from these treats. Dogs are in hospital on iv- blood in stool- blood in vomit- lethargic. One person reported seeing small bugs in the treats. I Am I convinced my dog was poisoned by these treats, I feel these treats need to be tested. I am at a loss and I don’t know where to go from here. Please help me.
    Stephanie

I am so saddened to read this!! Have you (all) emailed and called the actual number listed? I’m not sure the officials posting these check them. I will be on constant redial to that 1888 number listing and bombarding the bastards with 20 emails daily! We never thought that my gift for my daughters dog was what made her soooo sick!!

  6. Karen says:

My dog started having seizures today. We took him to the vet with a list of food the dog was eating including treaties. The clinic staff informed us that the calendar is recalled.

Please contact me. My puppy is not doing well. He had multiple seizures

I can’t stop crying thinking about the fact that I was almost killed my dog

    I sent Costco this:

    To Whom it May Concern,

In November, during my weekly Costco visit, my daughter asked me to purchase your Irish Rover 2021 Advent Calendar for dogs. I do not normally purchase dog treats at Costco, but I didn’t think twice as I always believed that Costco has a very high standard for all of the products that it sells in the warehouse. However, in this case, I was sadly mistaken. I have a 10 pound Cotton De Tulear, and she has always been healthy. She eats very well, receives all of her yearly vaccinations and visits the veterinarian regularly for check ups. Our family dog, Bailee, began consuming the treats in said calendar on December 1, 2021. As the days went by, Bailee began to feel unwell. It wasn’t until the early morning of December 11, 2021 that her illness took a dangerous and scary turn. I brought her to the Animal Hospital in Milton, where the cause of her illness at that point was unknown, and Bailee was given medication and had blood drawn for testing. The bill was $447.27. On the way to the hospital, I told my husband that I “didn’t understand what was going on with Bailee’ and that “the only thing that had changed in Bailee’s life was the advent calendar”.

Upon returning home from the hospital, as we were walking into our home, the telephone rang and we received the news of the recall of the calendar. Imagine our devastation, and shock when we received the news. At least we now had the source of our dog’s illness confirmed. Bailee continued to deteriorate until we brought her back to the Animal Hospital in Milton on December 13, 2021. Bailee was so dehydrated and ill that she needed to be hospitalized and given medication and IV intravenously. The bill was $602.75.

After her last visit to the hospital and subsequent treatments, Bailee is finally getting better. This whole ordeal has been a nightmare for my family and I, as well as everyone that has reached out in my community through social media, believes that Costco should reimburse me for the astronomical hospital bills. I paid $ 1050.02 total to nurse my dog back to health, and a product purchased from you is to blame.

Please contact me if you need any further information.

    Warm Regards,

    Heather Rathke

      My puppy is 20 weeks
He has been sick with seizures for a week now
He had done blood work, x-ray, urinalysis, stool sample collected, MRI and spinal tap.

My puppy was teething when we fed him the Irish calendar treats and he now ended up with
      encephalitis

We spend over $10k trying to save his life.

I will be taking the treats to a food lab for further testing.

We have also contacted a Vancouver animal rights firm to represent us

      Please contact me

      1. Lydia W. says:

        Hi Muna,

If you hear anything back about this please update us. My 12 yr old boy had seizures after having these treats as well and is currently in the veterinary hospital because his kidneys are failing.
