Health Canada warns consumers about face masks that contain graphene.

Health Canada issued an advisory late last week warning consumers about the potential health risk posed by wearing face masks that contain graphene while investigating amassing complaints.

On April 2, the health agency posted an advisory concerning face masks that are “labeled as containing graphene or biomass graphene.” The notice states that Health Canada’s preliminary assessment into the products has identified a risk – early lung toxicity.

“Health Canada is advising Canadians not to use face masks that contain graphene because there is a potential that they could inhale graphene particles, which may pose health risks,” says the advisory notice, which indicates that these masks were distributed to adults and children in schools and daycares, as well as in health care settings.

In addition to asking consumers to stop using the graphene masks, Health Canada says that those who have used the masks and are now experiencing breathing problems should contact their health care provider. Further, consumers experiencing problems with the masks should report their experience to Health Canada using the agency’s adverse events or complaints forms available online.

Health Canada notes that the link between potential health problems and masks containing graphene was discovered in animals. The agency says that the risk which these masks pose is not yet known and may vary depending on mask design.

The notice says that the health agency is continuing to investigate and has requested data from the manufactures. The agency says it has directed distributors to stop selling and provinces to stop distributing the mass. In addition, Health Canada says it is taking necessary steps to stop the import of graphene face masks into the country.

Graphene Mask Complaints Prompt Investigation

Health Canada only recently began an investigation into graphene masks. A pair of masks imported by Metallifer and distributed to schools, daycares, and transit workers were reportedly recalled in Quebec as well.

The investigation and recall were initiated after users reported increased headaches and the feeling of “breathing in cat hair” after wearing the graphene-lined masks.

The substance, nanoform graphene, is a “novel” material, according to experts who spoke to CTV News. While there are nanoparticles that occur naturally, manmade substances may carry unknown health risks, including damage to the lungs and other organs when inhaled.

“Graphene is a novel nanomaterial (materials made of tiny particles) reported to have antiviral and antibacterial properties,” states Health Canada’s recently issued advisory.

  1. Michelle Lamoureux says:

The GRAPHENE is only for when they put it into the “SAFE, 100% EFFECTIVE” Vaccine, not for when they put it in the protective face masks you silly rabbits!

  2. Joshua Stevenson says:

I was required to wear a mask when shopping plz add my name to that class actìon.

  3. Barb Chrysler says:

Yes I was required to wear a mask at school and when entering hospitals

  4. Ariadne Wentzel says:

Please add me to the list. Both GR Baker Hospital, Shoppers Drug Mart, and Save On Foods in my town were requiring customers wear masks in order to gain entry, but they had someone at the door HANDING OUT THOSE AWFUL GRAPHENE MASKS TO PEOPLE WHO WERENT WEARING ONE. Those without a mask HAD to wear the mask they provided in order to access their store. I had to go to the Shoppers pharmacy 3 times a week for a year.

  5. Nancy Taylor says:

Oh im so upset at this please add me to the list never new these before I wore these masks.

  6. Joanne Bertrand says:

I wear masks daily at work and for personal usage. Some I bought, some are offered by my employer. Some are pale or brighter blue, some blue-gray.

In March 2021, I’ve experience on a day-to-day basis, major headaches, sore throat and dyspnea. Depending the mask I wear, sometimes it felt like I was breathing in particales that were stickink on my throat producing mild mucus and harsh voice. Because of my symptoms, I was obliged to be tested for Covid 2 times in a month (negative x2). The dyspnea progressed until the end of April 2021 and forced me to seek medical help. I am on high doses of prednisone and off work for 2 weeks. Not fair having to wear something that makes you sick, we should be having higher standards in mask making! Please, add my name to that class action. Tks.

  7. Sheldon Reuther says:

These bio masses are moving when presented with breath. They move in and through the fibers of the mask. They are on test swabs from what I have seen and is still readily available on the internet for those that choose to look. To not consider these as a main cause of our state of affairs is foolish and we need to demand punishment and fire all officials that were in the house of commons in 2020. Absolutely diabolical and inhumane, they damage us more than protect.
