A class action lawsuit has been filed against Robert Miller, the founder and former CEO of Future Electronics — also named in the complaint — by an unnamed individual arguing the billionaire paid multiple underage women for sex.
Multiple women have accused Miller, 79, of paying them for sex when they were underage, while the individual behind the class action lawsuit claims she was paid thousands to have sex with the Montreal billionaire from between the age of 17 and 19.
Miller stepped down as CEO of Future Electronics earlier this month, meanwhile, after a report by Radio Canada/CBC brought to light allegations from 10 women, with some as young as 14-years-old, reports CTV News Montreal.
The Radio Canada/CBC report alleged that, from between 1994 and 2006, Miller would have his associates deliver underage girls to his Montreal hotel room and home in Westmount to perform sex acts.
Future Electronics released a statement earlier this month denying the allegations on behalf of Miller, arguing that they are simply the result of a “bitter divorce” that are resurfacing only for “financial gain,” reports CTV News Montreal.
Montreal Police declined to press charges against Miller following investigation in 2008 and 2009
Montreal Police reportedly investigated the claims against Miller from between 2008 and 2009 but declined to file charges at that time.
The unnamed plaintiff, meanwhile, is asking for $1.5 million in punitive damages and various amounts to cover psychological injuries for themselves and other women who would want to join the complaint, reports CTV News Montreal.
The woman, now 45 years old, claims she began having an ongoing sexual relationship with Miller in around 1996 after she placed a response to a newspaper advertisement for accessory models.
Miller is accused of paying the woman between $1,000 and $3,000 after each alleged sexual encounter. The woman said seeing the CTV News Montreal report ultimately compelled her to come forward.
In other sex-crime related news, Toronto police hit disgraced fashion mogul Peter Nygard with nine sexual assault charges in October 2021, with some charges relating to alleged crimes against women as young as 14 years old.
