Health Canada has issued a recall alert notice for BTWIN Baby Seat 100 BCLIP over a potential fall hazard.
According to the notice, the product is a childโs bicycle seat with a back plastic outer shell, footrest and a blue seat cushion. The seat has black straps with a front buckle that, according to the Baby Seat 100 BCLIP recall notice, can break. According to the distributorโs recall notice, affected buckles have a turquoise blue line on the front of the buckle. If the buckle breaks, the child can slip out of the seat.
The seat is model number 8486914 and item number 2538309. This information can be found in the instruction manual for the product.
The BTWIN Baby Seat 100 BCLIP for bicycles were sold between November of 2018 and October of 2019, according to the Health Canada recall notice; however, the companyโs recall notice indicates that these products were sold between Jan. 1, 2016 and June 6, 2019.
In Canada, about 115 child seats were sold by distributor Dรฉcathlon Canada Inc. based out of Quebec. The product is manufactured by Polisport Plรกsticos SA which is based in Portugal.
Fortunately, according to the Health Canada recall alert, no reports of injuries or incidents related to the Baby Seat 100 BCLIP for bicycles have been reported to the agency. The agency urges consumers to inspect their bicycle seats to see if they are affected by the recall. Specifically, Health Canada says to look for a turquoise blue line in the baby seat.
Consumers with affected BTWIN Baby Seat 100 BCLIPs can return the item to a Dรฉcathlon for an exchange or refund. Consumers with questions can contact the company by calling 1-844-533-3322, by email, or by visiting the companyโs website at https://pages.decathlon.ca/product-recalls.

According to Dรฉcathlonโs website, a number of other recalls have been issued for the companyโs products. These items include a binding, the SNB 100, SNB Click, and All Road 500, a bike carrier adaptor bar, a headlamp, and Gloves Pro. The reasons for the recall range from fall hazard, breakage, and allergic reactions.
