  • Why: The space heaters can overheat, posing fire and burn hazards.
  • Where: The GoveeLife space heater recall is active in the United States and Canada.

GoveeLife and Govee have recalled more than half a million smart electric space heaters over concerns that they can overheat.

The recallย was published to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission website on Nov. 7. It applies to about 512,500 GoveeLife and Govee smart electric space heaters sold in the United States and about 48,600 sold in Canada.

It says that testing found the smart electric space heaters do not comply with voluntary industry safety standards, which means the heaters pose an overheating and fire risk from their wireless control features.

Consumers should stop using recalled space heaters

So far, the firms have received 113 reports of overheating, including seven reports of fires and one report of a minor burn injury, the recall states.

โ€œConsumers should immediately stop using the recalled electric space heaters and contact the brands for a refund,โ€ the recall says.

Unplug the electric space heater, cut the power cord, and send an image of the destroyed electric space heater, the manufacturerโ€™s label and SN Code on the bottom or side of the unit to GoveeLife or Govee throughย this link.ย

Consumers who do not have the original order number will receive a refund ranging from $31.80 to $106.63, depending on the model purchased, the recall states. For consumers who do have the original order number, they will receive a full refund of the purchase price. Consumers can find the order number in their purchase records on online sales channels.

Atomi has also recalledย more than 100,000 smart heaters sold in the United States and Canada after one of the heaters turned on by itself.ย
