Sunwing champagne class action settlement

Québec residents may be able to benefit from a Sunwing settlement if they traveled with a vacation package advertised using the word “champagne.”

The settlement benefits Québec consumers who, between Feb. 10, 2024, and April 30, 2017, purchased, obtained or traveled with a Sunwing flight or vacation package advertised using the word “champagne.”

The class action lawsuit claims Sunwing misled consumers by using “champagne” verbiage in its advertising campaigns. In reality, the plaintiff contends, customers traveling under Sunwing’s champagne packages only received sparkling wines.

Sunwing is an airline and travel booking company that operates in Canada.

Sunwing hasn’t admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to a settlement to resolve the false advertising class action lawsuit.

Under the terms of the Sunwing settlement, customers are eligible for a 7% discount voucher to be used on certain Sunwing flights and vacation packages. Discounts are available for three years with no blackout periods or restrictions.

The objection deadline for the settlement was Oct. 10, 2022.

The final approval hearing was originally scheduled for Oct. 31, 2022.

Class members have until Nov. 4, 2024 to verify their status with the Sunwing settlement and receive their 7% discount.
