Hydromassage Rotary jets recall overview:

  • Who: Watkins Manufacturing Corporation is recalling more than 35,000 Hydromassage Rotary jets.
  • Why: The recall is due to a potential entrapment and drowning hazard where the jets’ suction force can entangle users’ hair.
  • Where: The recall is active in both the United States and Canada.

Watkins Manufacturing Corporation has issued a recall for its Hydromassage Rotary jets found in Highlife Collection spas due to risks of entrapment and drowning.

The recall affects 32,900 units sold in the United States and 2,606 units sold in Canada. The Hydromassage Rotary jets, which are part of spa models from 2023 to 2025, pose a risk as their suction force can entangle hair, potentially submerging users underwater.

The recall was announced on Feb.12 and covers eight specific spa models: Grandee, Envoy, Vanguard, Aria, Prodigy, Sovereign, Jetsetter and Jetsetter LX. This recall involves Hydromassage Rotary jets (6 fin) in Highlife Collection spas and also sold as replacement parts.

The affected jets are identified by a serial number located on the spa’s base pan, beginning with the model designator followed by a letter D or E, and specific production quarter numbers.

“The hydromassage rotary jets can create a suction force that allows the user’s hair to be entangled, submerging their head underwater, posing entanglement and drowning hazards to the user,” the recall notice states.

Watkins Manufacturing has received one incident report in the United States. However, no injuries have been reported in either the United States or Canada.

Consumers urged to stop using spas and to replace faulty spa jets

The Highlife Collection spas recall notice advises consumers to cease using the affected jets and visit the Hot Spring Spas website to determine if their spa is impacted.

If confirmed, consumers should contact Watkins Wellness for instructions on disabling the jets and installing replacement inserts. The company provides a video guide to assist with the process.

Watkins Manufacturing is actively working to resolve the issue by offering free replacement jet inserts to affected consumers. The company has set up a dedicated contact line and email for inquiries.

Consumers can reach out to Watkins Wellness toll-free at 1-888-450-5748 or via email at [email protected]. Additional information is available on the Hot Spring Spas website.

Watkins Manufacturing says it has received one report of an incident in the United States so far, but no related injuries. The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.
