Diageo Canada Inc. is recalling its Crown Royal Reserve Canadian Whisky — specifically the 12-Year Aged variant — over concerns of glass contamination.

The Crown Royal whisky recall affects products sold in several provinces across Canada, including Alberta, British Columbia, Newfoundland and Labrador, and Ontario.

The recall, officially announced on Aug. 19, 2025, involves the 750 mL bottles of Crown Royal Reserve Canadian Whisky, identified by the UPC code 0 82000 80992 0.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has categorized this recall as Class 2, indicating that the product could potentially cause temporary health issues or minor injuries, though it is unlikely to result in serious harm.

The recall notice urges consumers, retailers and food service operators not to use, sell, serve or distribute the recalled product.

Recall: consumers should return recalled whisky to point of purchase

The recall notice emphasizes the potential risk posed by the presence of glass in the whisky bottles, which could lead to minor injuries if consumed.

The CFIA has advised consumers to avoid using the product and to return it to the point of purchase or dispose of it safely.

Diageo Canada Inc. is taking proactive measures to address the issue. The company has urged all retailers and distributors to remove the affected product from their shelves and has provided contact information for consumers seeking further assistance.

Consumers can contact the Canadian Food Inspection Agency for more information via their toll-free number, 1-800-442-2342, or by email at [email protected].

Diageo Canada Inc. has not reported any injuries related to this recall so far. The company is not currently facing any legal action over the recall, but recalls of this nature are closely monitored as they can sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.

Also in August, Drinkmate issued a recall for its 1-liter carbonation bottles due to the risk of explosion affecting more than 106,000 units in the United States and 5,000 in Canada.
