Product Recall Stamp regarding the recent food recalls

There are several food recalls in Canada to be on the lookout for. Some of the food recalls issued in recent weeks are serious and can create a dangerous situation if the notice is ignored and the food is eaten, including recalled food with the presence of glass, undeclared allergens, and salmonella contamination.

Keeping up with food recalls is always a good idea, so here we covered some of the recent recall notices issued. Stay informed and share this recall information with family and friends, just in case they have any of the affected products. 

Miss Vickie’s Kettle Cooked Potato Chips May Contain Glass

On Nov. 3, 2020, some of Miss Vickie’s Kettle Cooked chips were recalled from the Canadian market due to the possibility of glass being present in the food products.

According to the recall notice, some products may contain pieces of glass and consumers are being warned not to eat the kettle cooked chips, but instead throw them away or return them to the store where you purchased them.

The chips have been sold in several provinces including, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, and Quebec.

One injury has been reported regarding a consumer eating the recalled kettle cooked chips.

Isagenix Isalean Bars Recalled Amid Illnesses Reported

Isagenix Isalean Bars are part of a food recall issued on Oct. 31, 2020. Two flavours of Isagenix Isalean Bars are recalled due to the over fortification of vitamins.

The following Isagenix Isalean Bars are affected according to the Canadian government recall:

  • Isagenix Isalean Bar, Chocolate Cream Crisp 65 gram package with 10 bars, box code 380602471, code on individual bars 380602470, EXP AL/2021
  • Isagenix Isalean Bar, Chocolate Peanut Crunch 65 gram package with 10 bars, box code 380602469, code on individual bars 380602468, EXP JL/2021

The distribution of the recalled Isagenix Isalean Bars is possibly national. The recalled bars were sold on the internet and through independent salespeople.

There have been illnesses reported from the consumption of the recalled bars. If you have the products included in the food recall, you’re advised to toss them in the trash.

Alwatania Halva Extra Recall Notes Salmonella Concerns

The Alwatania Halva Extra recall was updated on Oct. 30, 2020, due to the presence of salmonella.  The affected product is Halva Extra in a 450-gram package with UPC code 6 224007 246337. Woman checking food regarding the recent food recalls

The recalled Halva Extra shows the following additional codes: “PRO : 20/05/2019, EXP : 19/05/2021” according to the Canadian government recall website.

If you purchased this food recall, throw it away, or return it to the store. Do not consume it, as salmonella poisoning can be serious. If you became sick from eating the recalled Halva Extra, you’re advised to call your doctor.

Salmonella contaminated produce and outbreaks have nearly dominated the recall news lately, and some incidents have spawned class action lawsuits. A salmonella onion recall launched a number of class action lawsuits after people got sick from eating the impacted Thomson International onions.

Nature’s Intent Recalled Over Undeclared Milk

Nature’s Intent issued a recall on Oct. 22, 2020, citing the Dark Chocolate Enrobed Pineapples and Dark Chocolate Enrobed Mangoes are being recalled in the Canadian marketplace. Nature’s Intent products are being recalled in Canada for undeclared milk ingredients. The food recall was updated a day later to include more Nature’s Intent Dark Chocolate Enrobed fruit.

Nature’s Intent food recalls include 100-gram packages of the following:

  • Dark Chocolate Enrobed Bananas, UPC 8 57308 00506 6
  • Dark Chocolate Enrobed Mandarins, UPC 8 57308 00552 3
  • Dark Chocolate Enrobed Mangoes, UPC 8 57308 00519 6
  • Dark Chocolate Enrobed Pineapples, UPC 8 57308 00522 6
  • Dark Chocolate Enrobed Strawberries, UPC 8 57308 00505 9

All codes that do not include milk in the label are included. Anyone with a milk allergy should not consume the Nature’s Intent food recalls.

There has been one incident regarding a reaction to the recalled bar reported, according to the recall notice. If you purchased any of Nature’s Intent food recalls and are allergic to milk products, throw them away or return them to the place of purchase.

High Quality Organics Parsley Recall

On Oct. 20, 2020, High Quality Organics Organic Parsley Medium was recalled for salmonella contamination. The recalled parsley was sold in Ontario and distributed to hospitality venues. 

There does not appear to be any reports of salmonella sickness stemming from the recalled parsley, according to the notice.
